Castione della Presolana Hotels
Located at an altitude of about 1,000 metres above sea level and surrounded by fir, beech and pine forests, Castione della Presolana sits in a splendid position at the foot of the "Massiccio della Presolana" (the Presolana Massif with an altitude of 2,521 metres above sea level). This area has been renowned for its beneficial climate and breathtaking landscape since the early 1900s.
This gem of the Bergamo Alps is the queen of local tourism and holiday homes. Castione dates back to prehistoric times, when it was inhabited by ancient populations that lived off hunting and sheep farming. The town has several colourful festivals dedicated to these ancient activities: in particular, in May and September for the transhumance, the traditional twice-yearly migration of sheep from the lowlands to the highlands and vice versa. During these festivals, people dress in period costumes and re-enact activities from the past - such as chopping wood, spinning wool and sharpening sickles - while tastings of alpine butter, cheeses and salamis are served in local wooden cottages.
Autumn is a magical time to visit this area, when the beech, larch and birch trees drop their coloured leaves along the trails and wild animals are looking for food in preparation for hibernation. Walking, hiking and biking in these woods will be an unforgettable experience that will last forever. For winter sports fans, this area offers downhill and cross-country skiing, as well as skating on frozen lakes.
Amongst Castione della Presolana Hotels, we have selected the Milano Alpen Resort Meeting & Spa, which is not just a hotel but also a philosophy. A philosophy of wellness in all its forms. Nature, sports, relaxation and healthy food are the ingredients that will nourish both your body and your mind.
