Restored to the baroque magnificence that inspired its construction in the mid-1600s by Duke Carlo Emanuele II of Savoy, the Reggia di Venaria is a symbol of modernity and culture. Since its opening in 2007, La Venaria Reale has become one of Italy’s five most visited cultural sites.

Exceptional masterpieces will illustrate the intriguing and charismatic figure of Prince Eugene of Savoy, one of the protagonists of European politics in the 18th century, an incredibly successful commander, a fine military strategist and an avid art collector.
Count of Soissons and cousin of King Vittorio Amedeo II, Eugene of Savoy was a celebrated commander of the imperial army who earned his reputation across Europe for his victories against the Turks.
A unique opportunity to admire these 130 works by celebrated artists (from Reni to Van Dyck, from Brueghel to famous Flemish and Dutch painters) that also mark the return of Italian and European masterpieces that once belonged to the House of Savoy to the Reggia di Venaria, as a temporary and extraordinary addition that will further enrich the permanent display.
The catalogue follows the same pattern, with a special focus on related aspects like Prince Eugene’s outstanding collection of engravings and insights from important essays and studies conducted in recent years in Italy.
