With the affiliation of the Icelandic chain of Allseason Hotels, Supranational Hotels strengthens its offer and heads towards the great north. The four hotels, all located in southern Iceland, allow for the discovery of this fantastic country with perennial snow. Despite its latitude, Iceland's climate is temperate thanks to the influence of the gulf stream. This youngest European country is a privileged destination for high-level business and leisure tourism and offers an elevated standard of hospitality.
This island could not be without the large international hotel reservation and marketing group, of which Space Hotels is the Italia partner, which has more than 1000 hotels in 75 nations and over 500 destinations worldwide guaranteeing high quality hospitality. Hotel bookings can be made through 21 reservation offices, the GDS (SX) or Internet at www.spacehotels.it.
The land of ice and fire
No other country in the world has the same natural wonders as Iceland: majestic glaciers and snow-capped mountains; spewing geysers and steaming craters; volcanoes, some still active; impetuous rivers and magnificent waterfalls; a multitude of birds and sea mammals along the coast; and many other surprises. The island has many geysers (an Icelandic word) and a large supply of geothermic energy for electric power stations. The major factor influencing Iceland's climate is the gulf stream, which keeps temperatures from having large variances. In winter, the average daytime temperature is about -2 to -3° C. Summers are cool with an average daytime temperature of about 10 to 11° C in July and August. The sun remains below the horizon from November to January (daylight in December lasts for only five hours). The days start growing longer in February and by March have the same light conditions as the rest of Europe. In May, June and July there is practically no sunset.
The Hotel Rangá is located 96 kilometres from Reykjavik on the River Salmon. It is surrounded by a picturesque landscape of volcanoes, mountains and glaciers. The hotel has 45 comfortable, luxurious guestrooms and three exothermically heated outdoor swimming pools. It is perfect for honeymoons, romantic getaways and even business meetings. Its wood-panelled restaurant seats 100 people and has a view of the river. It offers fishing, golf, horseback riding and jeep or helicopter excursions to discover southern Iceland.
The Hotel Skógar is located just five minutes from the famous Skogarfoss waterfall. The hotel is open to all from May 1st to September 30th and reserved for small groups and companies from October 1st to April 30th. While it is quite romantic, it is also very tranquil and particularly suited for people who are looking for an atmosphere that guarantees concentration, such as writers. The Skógar has 12 guestrooms, a sauna and a heated swimming pool. There are many activities available including excursions to the nearby waterfall and glaciers, as well as birdwatching and salmon fishing.
The Hotel Highland is located in a breathtaking part of Iceland with the most intensive volcanic activity. Hikers come here from all over the world and trout fishing in this uncontaminated environment has recently become popular with anglers. The surrounding area is full of local legends of fairies, gnomes, trolls and other fantastic beings. Yearlong access to the hotel is easy thanks to a paved road. The vastness of the landscape and the absence of human impact make this region one of the last places in Europe where the words freedom, natural beauty and solitude have a very profound meaning.
Highland Center Hrauneyjar
The Highland Center Hrauneyjar (Hálendismiðstöðin) is located near the Hotel Highland and 150 kilometres from Reykjavik. There are many excursions available in this very picturesque area of the island.
