OPEN SPACE...HOTELS

Several affiliates of the Space Hotels group offer their guests peaceful and relaxing moments thanks not only to their attentive service and ideal locations in Italy's most beautiful cities, but also to the open spaces available to their clientele. Such as large parks, intimate gardens and patios with exotic atmospheres in which to take the sun or enjoy a refreshing aperitif after a busy day. These hotels are located in Venice, Turin, Bergamo, Bologna, Florence, Forte dei Marmi, Tirrenia, Calcinaia, Siena, Pesaro and Manfredonia.

In Venice, the Hotel Saturnia & International, which is located just a few steps from St. Mark's Square and the Fenice Theatre and close to the Guggenheim museum, offers its guests a large solarium terrace with a view of the Church of the Virgin Mary of Good Health and the rooftops of Venice. When the weather is nice, breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the typical venetian courtyard of the hotel's La Caravella restaurant.

Another affiliate in Venice is the marvellous five-star Hotel Metropole, which is located in a picturesque part of the city near St. Mark's Square with an enchanting view of the lagoon in front of the Island of St George. The hotel has a private corner, the Giardino degli Agrumi [Citrus Tree Garden], which magically revokes the past. When the weather is nice, the Giardino degli Agrumi is the perfect spot to have breakfast or a light lunch in the shade of its elegant gazebo, as well as special dinners or parties in the evening, when the Oriental Bar serves delicious drinks and cocktails.

In Turin, the Grand Hotel Sitea has a lovely, timeless patio that is a wonderful alternative to the chaos of the city for breakfast and aperitifs during the warm weather. The hotel's restaurant, Carignano, offers a wide variety of gastronomic choices for work meals, buffets, receptions, cocktail parties or important dinners.

In Bergamo, the Roof Garden Restaurant of the Hotel Excelsior San Marco has been inspired by the restaurants with a view found in great European cities. The space was designed to both harmonise with the city of Bergamo and be inviting to the hotel's clientele for open-air aperitifs in an elegant ambiance.

In Bologna, the Aemilia Hotel has a large solarium terrace on the sixth floor, with a hot tub, sun beds and showers, which is truly a private green space. It was designed to offer a place to relax in or to enjoy pleasant coffee breaks, aperitifs, lunches and dinners.

In Viareggio, the Hotel Plaza & De Russie has a renowned restaurant, La Terrazza, which offers excellent cuisine for lunches, aperitifs and dinners, as well as a panoramic view of the sea all the way to the gulf of La Spezia. To get away from the summer heat, there is a grove of maritime pine tress just a ten-minute walk from the hotel, which is the perfect place for strolls in the cool shade of these unique, umbrella-shaped evergreens.

In Florence, the Hotel Londra has a secret inside that it cannot wait to share with its guests; it is their One Garden Lounge. This unique, graceful garden has a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere with such exotic touches as a bamboo enclosure, wooden floors, sofas and armchairs with soft white cushions, all shaded by white awnings suspended from a central tree.

Also in Florence, the Plaza Hotel Lucchesi has been offering a warm, elegant welcome to this flourishing art city since 1860. The hotel faces onto the Arno River and from its splendid rooftop terrace with a swimming pool (inaugurated in June 2014) guests can admire a charming view of Piazzale Michelangelo, the Basilica of St. Minias on the Mountain and the Tuscan hills to the south, as well as the Cathedral, the Church of the Holy Cross and the city's rooftops to the north.

In Forte dei Marmi, the Hotel Il Negresco has recently renovated and enlarged its beautiful swimming pool area for adult guests adding sun beds and umbrellas, along with a magnificent hot tub that can comfortably accommodate up to ten people on lounge chairs submersed in the warm water. It is the perfect place for a refreshing drink and tasty snacks. The area also has a heated pool for children to enjoy.

Remaining in Tuscany, we have two hotels in the province of Pisa: the Green Park Resort in Tirrenia and the Hotel Calamidoro in Calcinaia.

The Green Park Resort is nestled in a verdant, five-hectare park with two outdoor swimming pools, a poolside bar/restaurant and a children's playground.

The Hotel Calamidoro is an ancient Tuscan village that has been transformed into a charming resort nestled in a garden. To enjoy the open air, the complex offers a small lake, a golf course, a 25-metre swimming pool, a private pool, a diving pool and a children's pool.

In Siena, to the south, we have the Hotel Athena, located inside the old city's fortified walls near the famous Piazza del Campo. The hotel's panoramic terrace offers a magnificent view of the countryside dotted by ancient farmhouses and majestic cypress trees. It also has a bar that stays open until late and even serves romantic dinners in summertime.

In Pesaro, the Hotel Savoy stands in a quiet, shady and central location just a short walk from the beach and the city's most important monuments. The hotel offers a counter-current swimming pool, two hot tubs that seat eight people and a solarium with lounge chairs and umbrellas, as well as changing cabins at the beach. When the weather is warm, breakfast, lunch and dinner are served outdoors on the veranda.

In Manfredonia, we have the Regiohotel Manfredi, ideally located near all the major attractions of the Gargano Promontory. The Regiohotel Manfredi covers a 60,000-m2 area within a natural oasis and offers guests spectacular, panoramic views of the Manfredonia Gulf and the sinuous profile of the Gargano Promontory. From June to September, guests can enjoy and relax in the courtyard garden with its gazebo, tables and chairs. The hotel also has a swimming pool, a soccer pitch with artificial grass, a tennis court and an exercise trail with workout equipment.
