Space Travel Notes
Inspired by the travel diaries of Hemingway and Chatwin, the new "Space Travel Notes" scrapbook, created with the "School of Travel", encourages guests of Space Hotels to immortalise their journeys.
Nowadays, travelling has become a part of our lifestyle. Without losing any of its appeal, travelling has become a regular activity that we do with ease. Many people have suitcases are always either half packed or half unpacked.
There are several reasons for this change. First of all, the ease of travelling. In many cities, the taxi ride to the airport costs more than the actual flight. Thanks to low-cost airlines, we can visit far away cities as often as we want while, for our parents, it was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
And, of course, thanks to the Internet, we can share our feelings, our lives and our plans with people far away, who we will eventually want to meet in person one day. As we reflect on our lives, we will realise that some of our most important moments have been spent far away from the place we call home.
For these moments, Space Hotels has decided to offer its guests advice on how to travel better and live their experiences to the fullest. To do this, they partnered up with the Scuola del Viaggio (School of Travel). Today, Space Hotels has the pleasure of presenting the first results of this collaboration: the "Space Travel Notes" scrapbook, which will be a complimentary gift to the guests of its affiliate hotels, and its dedicated blog at www.spacetravelnotes.com.
The "Space Travel Notes" scrapbook recalls the tradition of travel diaries that have accompanied such famous people as Hemingway and Chatwin. For people who wish to express their creativity, the scrapbook contains original and fun advice written by the "School of Travel". Every week, the blog, at www.spacetravelnotes.com, will offer more tips on writing, drawing and photographing.
"The traveller model proposed by the "School of Travel" is one we really like. It is a creative person who looks at things in-depth, who prefers quality to quantity, who respects places and the people who live there. This way of teaching is good for tourism and even involves the people who work in the sector," explains Piero Marzot, President of Space Hotels.
The "School of Travel" is an association founded in 2005 by Claudio Visentin, who is a professor at the Italian Swiss University in Lugano. It was created as a spin-off from the universities of Pavia, Pisa and Lugano and has become a national association for sustainable and responsible tourism (affiliated with AITR) that has formed a creative community and offers a rethinking of travelling. Its partners include publishing houses (Touring, EDT, Guanda, Vallardi and Moleskine) and businesses (Space Hotels and Mondial Assistance). The mission of its founder, Claudio Visentin, is to foster respect for and knowledge, awareness and appreciation of all places visited.
