Novara lies between the Sesia and Ticino rivers and practically sits on the border between the Regions of Lombardia and Piemonte. Its Roman origins can be seen in its chessboard urban plan and its original the name in Latin, "Novaria".
The historic centre is graced with elegant noble palaces and Neoclassical buildings. There are also a few examples of buildings from earlier periods, such as the Baptistery and the "Palazzo del Broletto".
Novara offers many historical events including the "Palio dei Quattro Cantoni" [Horse Race of the Four Districts], which takes place on the second Sunday of September and re-enacts the 15th-century Court of Pietro Gallarati with a procession in period costumes and the carrying of the "Drappo".
Every Easter Sunday celebrates the "Corsa della Torta" [Cake Race], which is a historic procession followed by eight young men, representing the city's eight districts, competing in a 500-metre race to win a cake.
Among Novara Hotels, we have selected the Hotel Europa, one of the city's most famous and elegant hotels that offers a blend of tradition, comfort and technology that will make your stay unforgettable.
