Space Hotels Pet Friendly

Pets are finally being accepted as hotel guests and receiving all the hospitality and exclusive services they deserve! Not just large, open spaces but also cots and bowls, check-ups and floritherapy treatments, grooming and pet-sitting and even menus specially designed by chefs.

Every summer for more than ten years, Space Hotels has been promoting its affiliates that accept pets, which has contributed to raising awareness amongst vacationers about the inhumane practice of animal abandonment. Many celebrities have set positive examples such as: the Obama family and their bog Bo; Paris Hilton and her Chihuahuas and Sandra Bullock and her Ruby.

It's a dog's...and cat's…life!

The Hotel Continental in Genoa has created a pet lounge for either dogs or cats with a comfy pet bed, a sanitised sheet and a kit that includes a travel bowl, placemat, selected snacks and pick-up bags in a cute, paw-shaped dispenser.

From the park…

Several Space Hotels have large fenced gardens and outdoor spaces where pets can be safely and relaxingly taken for walks (Hotel President Giovinazzo north of Bari, the Suite Hotel Santa Chiara in Lecce, the Piccolo Castello in Monteriggioni near Siena, the Hotel Federico II in Jesi in the province of Ancona, the Hotel Ambasciatori in Rimini, the Metropole in Venice and the Hotel Milano in Bratto in the province of Bergamo) or a balcony for getting fresh air (the Hotel Panama Garden in Rome). The Hotel Londra in Florence and The Hub Hotel in Milan offer an "Always Together" package of services specifically designed for dogs, which includes a cot, bowl, toys and an informative map indicating public gardens with leash-free areas, local veterinarians, pet shops, groomers and pet-sitters. the pet bed

Years ago, the Palace Hotel in Bari was the first ever to create a "pet room", which offers owners a cot covered with plaid fabric, parquet floors, a set of grooming products with combs and brushes, a selection of hard and soft toys and an assortment of cat and dog foods. The Hotel HC3 in Bologna welcomes small and medium-sized dogs and offers them bowls with water and food, a sleeping mat and grooming wipes. The Hotel Michelangelo in Mestre (just outside Venice) offers grooming brushes and gloves, cots and cat litter. For a small extra charge, four-legged guests at the Hotel Carlton in Ferrara can have bedding provided and changed daily. The Rechigi Park Hotel in Modena offers bowls and comfy, cloth pet beds.

 Special pet treatments

The Hotel Des Nations in Riccione has three rooms with pet beds and large terraces. The hotel is affiliated with a nearby restaurant that accepts animals and a groomer that, along with shampoos and cuts, offers pet-sitting and delivers various brands of pet food and cat litter. As well, the hotel owner, Chantal Michaux, is the only person in Italy who treats all types of canine pathologies with floritherapy, also known as flower remedies. At the Cappello Rosso in Bologna, pet beds and bowls are available in-room and guests can make appointments for complete veterinary check-ups for their furry friends.

…and meals

The chef of the Green Park Resort in Tirrenia offers a menu suitable to dogs' tastes and habits on request. The Hotel Savoy in Pesaro and the Bonconte in Urbino offer pet food and give information on public gardens with leash-free areas, pet-friendly beaches and restaurants, local veterinarians and pet shops.

 Throughout Italy

The culture of pet hospitality, which is already common in Anglo-Saxon countries and France, has finally come to Italy. The Space affiliates that accept pets are located in major Italian tourist destinations: such as art cities (Rome, Florence, Venice, Bergamo, Padua, Ferrara, Bologna, Pisa, Siena, Urbino, Perugia, Catania); business cities (Milan, Turin, Cuneo, Genoa, Aosta, Novara, Piacenza, Modena, Pesaro, Ancona, Jesi, Bari); and resort cities (Como, Santa Margherita Ligure, Riccione, Rimini, Fiuggi). They are all chosen by Space Hotels based on rigorous quality and service criteria and are both very welcoming and very well kept. Many of them are decorated in earlier period styles and have gourmet restaurants, terraces with views, gardens, swimming pools and wellness centres.
